Did you know that horses truly do experience headaches? Your bridle may be causing pain and discomfort! Overly tight crown pieces, browbands, cheek pieces, nosebands, drop nosebands, and flashes can cause sharp electric-like twinges and numbness throughout the head of the horse.

Here is a more detailed explanation of equine facial nerves and compression when wearing a traditional bridle.
The trigeminal nerve cluster (referred to as Cranial Nerve V) is more responsible for sensory function and facial nerve (referred to as Cranial Nerve VII) is more responsible for motor function. These two primary nerve networks work closely together and are intricately overlapped.
The trigeminal nerve cluster(Cranial Nerve V) is divided into three main branches… Ophthalmic, maxillary and mandibular. The ophthalmic branch further divides into three sub branches of which the supraorbital nerve is the most compressed by a traditional bridle. The maxillary branch further divides into five sub branches of which the infraorbital nerve is the most compressed by a traditional bridle. The mandibular branch further divides into six sub branches of which the mental nerve is the most compressed by a traditional bridle.
The facial nerve (Cranial Nerve VII) is also heavily affected by compression of a traditional bridle. Nosebands that are placed too high and/or too tight pin the nerves against the zygomatic ridge. Headpieces that are too narrow, tight and without padding and browbands that are too tight crush nerves at poll and ear area.

Mero, my 2010 Andalusian gelding, lived a rough life before I found him and bought him out of the situation in 2020. His charro experience resulted in extreme jaw clenching which led to severe THO(Temporohyoid Osteoarthritis). Consistent and loud clicking of his jaw occurred while chewing food and he presented extreme ear sensitivity. A Bilateral Ceratohyoidectomy was successfully performed. Post-Op, I searched for the correct headstall that would offer him comfort. I analyzed all ergonomic bridles yet The Quantum Bridle was the only one that is truly correct, in my opinion, with evidence to prove its significant benefits throughout the body of the horse. As a local USA resident(based in Southern California), I can provide faster and more personal service. I have all bridle models in hand. I will travel to you when possible for ease of fitting and purchase. If travel option is not feasible due to distance, I work with you via photos and measurements in order to provide guidance.
